The Creative Process of theTrash King

December 9, 2016 by Michelle Leave a Comment

Who is the Trash King, you might ask. Well, his name is Vince. He lives in Austin, TX and he has built in his backyard, The Cathedral of Trash. He’s stacking it, gluing, etc, one piece of trash at a time since 1988! And now you can climb it and it has three going on four staircases which are not approved by the city. Yes, in order to keep the city and neighbors at bay you have to call him to make an appointment and then park 3 blocks away. It’s one of the most terrific things I’ve ever seen!

He has one letter written on each finger to spell out T.R.A.S.H. K.I.N.G. He charges no fee but accepts donations and is happy to answer any question you might have. I wanted to know where he gets his trash and how he chooses it. I was amused to find out that he waits for it to come to him. People drop things that want him to add, off in his front yard and even more surprisingly he has people from all over the country sending him trash in the mail! It’s so fantastic of a creative process, I just had to share. Note the word Creative spelled out in red above.
